Entering the Cajon del Río Volcán. just north of Lo Valdés, the sharp peaks of Cerro Morado stand out. The El Morado Natural Monument is located in the Metropolitan Region 93 km southeast of Santiago. El Morado is the highest among the hills that surround the Cajón del Maipo at 5,060 meters, which is why the Park that shelters it bears this name. This mountain is a kind of coat of arms of the region, and as none attracted the desire of the mountaineers. Due to its beauty and easy access, it had twenty attempts before the end of 1933. The main summit is the northern one, although from the Morado National Park, to the south of the mountain, the southern summit, lower with 4,490 meters of altitude , stands out more upright as a magnificent dark rocky triangle

It is recommended to bring the necessary equipment, have experience and a competent guide.



In its extension there are numerous waterfalls and small streams that flow from both sides of the slope, to later join the main channel of the Morales River. This water are permanent sources of mineral waters that can be visited in the "Morales Baths". Which have three thermal pools recommended for bone, muscle and skin conditions.



Due to winter weather conditions, El Morado Park is closed from May to September. In the Park you can a diversity of Fauna in which birds predominate. You can perform various activities such as mountaineering, climbing, observing the wildlife in the area. Within this sector of the Park are located the Morales Baths (Hot Springs), Colina Hot Springs (The Other Colina Hot Springs are located near the Colina River to the North of Santiago).















From Santiago you must take Route G-25 that connects Puente Alto with San José de Maipo-El Volcán.







This National Park is ideal for trekking and for mountaineering, in addition you can make excursions of one or more days in which you can see imposing peaks, lagoons and mineral waters. From this place it is possible to ascend Rubilias hill, Chacales, El Unión, El Mirador del Morado, San Francisco by the glacier and El Morado by the south wall (mixed climbing of great difficulty).
