The main facade has two quadrangular towers highlighted by cunhais of separate stonework. The interior is divided into three vaulted naves with five sections all at the same height. The altar of Sacred Heart also in marble and highlight the images in polychrome wood of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries of the patron saint, Our Lady of the Atalaia, Saint António, highlighted the high altar, marble, altar of St. Louis in gold carving, Santana, San Miguel and Nuestra Señora de la Concepción.

The border matrix church was built in the sixteenth century by King Sebastian, completed in 1599 by D. Lucas of Portugal, the commander of the Frontier and the Order of Avis, being objects of successive restorations that lasted until the middle of this century .
