It was created in Vicuña at the initiative of the Astronomy Amateur Club, after which the municipality of the city decided to materialize this project that has the support of the Capel company, the regional government, the community and the Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory .



The observatory is open to the public and all the nightlife for the tourist who is fond of observation can trigger the addiction by using important telescopes that bring the stars, planets and satellites closer that have so impeded humanity since time immemorial.

Juggling science and mysticism, we approached the Cerro Mamalluca Astronomical Observatory ready to live this particular experience of night observation of the cycles. A guide specialized in offering an interesting explanatory book about the universe and in a short time we understood the particular language that is used there. We familiarize ourselves with concepts such as ecliptic, nebulae, star clusters, satellites, stars, supernova stars, galaxies, and the Milky Way before going through the observation deck.















The center is located on the Mamalluca hill, which takes its name, and is located just 9 kilometers northeast of the city and at 1,200 meters above sea level. in the clearing between the mountains, where the city seems to sway on the senses.
