A leading town, with a very large party and two remaining towns such as Pavón and Las Chacras guarding the interbalnearia route that as a backbone separates it from one of its sons of yesteryear, the Partido de la Costa. A match, with tradition on the surface, with the tribute to its payadores in the Santos Vega National Week Holiday, with its Ría Ajó, its sunsets and the wealth of its fish, with its historic center, inviting tourists to enter through your passage to the seaside resorts of the Atlantic coast, with their black cakes, the beauty of their sunsets, with the cordial greeting, with your siesta, with the simplicity of its people and how are you doing? that makes the visitor feel at home. 300 km from Capital Federal and 267 km from the city of La Plata. General Lavalle, Capital of the Deer of the Pampas, where the First National Park of the Province of Bs.As. will be located.
During the 19th century, these lands were inhabited by aborigines. The terms TUYU, from the Guaraní origin "tuyú-cua", means swamp,, quagmire, swamp and AJÓ from the Guaraní "guajhó-ti" soft mud, land populated with reeds, both words enclose the characteristics of the soil of this region.
The current General Lavalle Party was created with the name of "Rincón de Ajó", by decree of December 20, 1839, before a proposal of the then Commander in Chief of the 5th Regiment based in Dolores, Colonel Narciso del Valle and thanks to the dismemberment of the Monsalvo Party, due to the fact that its inhabitants participated in the revolution against the Rosas government.
On February 1, 1864, by decree of Governor Mariano Saavedra, the founding of the town of General Lavalle was established, located on the right bank of Arroyo Ajó. This name was suggested by a committee of neighbors, among which were Don Isidoro Román Fulco and Martín Teodoro Campos, who had fought under the orders of General Juan Galo Lavalle, and when he was killed in Jujuy, they accompanied his remains through the Quebrada de Humahuaca.
This neighborhood committee presented plans and reports on the necessary public works.
In 1857, the Port was declared a National Port, which due to its strategic location, led to large shipments of fruits from all over the country, which together with the operation of meat salting rooms, gave General Lavalle a considerable boost, heralding a prosperous future although with the passing of time due to different factors that long-awaited dream of its precursors was truncated and the attractive and prosperous beginning was nothing more than a historical memory.
In 1932, however, a new hope for the Party began: tourist exploitation. The first landmark on the road to the beaches is placed, and the sale of plots begins, giving rise to the birth of the current beaches of San Clemente del Tuyú, Las Toninas, Santa Teresita, Mar del Tuyú, La Lucila del Mar, San Bernardo and Sea of Ajo.
In 1978, by Law No. 9024, the Government of the Province of Buenos Aires separated General Lavalle from the coastal strip, giving rise to the Partido de la Costa.
General Lavalle is a town located in the extreme east center of the Province of Buenos Aires, Argentina. It is head of the General Lavalle party. It has access to RP 11.
The Municipality of General Lavalle is basically a ´´Municipality of the campaign´´, since it has a large population outside the head of the party. As a consequence of this, most of its roads are land neighborhoods through which neighbors, agricultural producers and also farm trucks pass, but on many occasions these farm transfers are carried out by way of troops on the move.
All this type of circulation through them is causing a logical deterioration of those roads that are "going down" and no matter how much the Municipality makes the greatest efforts to keep them passable, in the winter season, with the rains, this is done very difficult.
In 2005, the ´´alteo´´ works of many kilometers of these roads were carried out, taking advantage of the summer season, a favorable time to carry out these works. Especially the alteration of the rural road that enters through El Palenque and reaches Malabrigo.
It has 1,472 inhabitants (INDEC, 2001), which represents an increase of almost 28% compared to the 1,153 inhabitants (INDEC, 1991) of the previous census.
On the Ria de Ajó, a few km from Bahía de Samborombón and 27 km from San Clemente del Tuyú, is General Lavalle. To get there, you can use the wide network of routes and roads, both provincial and national, most of which converge on route no. 11, which passes through the gates of the town.
