Set in the market town of Worksop, the 3-star Best Western Lion Hotel is superbly located within easy access of the A1, M1, M18 and only twenty minutes from Doncaster Sheffield International airport.
Parts of the hotel date back to the 1600s, while the modern facilities in the Lion’s rooms include a TV, radio and trouser press. Free tea and coffee is included in every room, whilst all bathrooms have a hairdryer.
114 Bar & Grill serves an extensive menu catering for a number of dietary needs. Guests can also enjoy fresh coffee, teas or alcoholic beverages on the sofas.
The Lion is 15 minutes’ drive from Sherwood Forest, famous for the legend of Robin Hood. Worksop town centre has restaurant, shops and bars, whilst Sheffield is a 25-minute car journey. Worksop is located at the northern edge of Sherwood Forest. In the town centre you will find a large market every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. A farmers' market is on every 2nd Friday of the month, where tasty local produce is sold. The hotel has over the years been updated, expanded and modernized but always in keeping with the originality of the building where history documents show that parts of the hotel date back as far as 1601.
The Lion Hotel has charm and a warmth that is expected of such a building whilst offering the guests all the modern amenities expected of a hotel today.
The hotel offers standard rooms and executive rooms as well as feature rooms such as the Rufford Suite with a queen sized mud bed, and in addition to that family suites comprising of one double bedded room, one twin bedded room, a lounge and shared bathroom. One even has its own kitchen.
The hotel has five conference rooms seating up to 200 delegates theatre style to a smaller conference room for one to one interviews.
The function rooms are also ideal for those family celebrations, and three of the rooms are licensed for Civil Ceremonies, Civil Partnerships and Naming Ceremonies.
The outdoor patio garden offers a blaze of color from the hanging baskets and hakes allowing you to sit back and relax in the fresh air.
