The Basilica is not specifically a Roman-style basilica, but rather a model of eclectic architecture, based on the combination of various architectural currents with a predominance of Neo-Gothic.
It was distinguished with the title of Basilica on January 3, 1997 by Pope John Paul II.
From Monday to Friday the Parroquia y Basíliaca de San Ponciano Celebrates Holy Mass at the following times: 8, 9, 12, 17:30 and 19. On Saturdays it has the following hours: 8, 9, 12 and 19. On Sundays it has the following hours: 9, 10, 11, 12, 19 and 20:30.
These hours are maintained during the months of March to December. As of December 8, the last Sunday Mass is celebrated at 9 p.m. and during the months of January and February the 12-noon Mass is suppressed only on Sundays. The Parish Secretariat is open from Tuesday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. On Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Phones: (0221) 421-0332 and 424-3730-Fax: (0221) 421-0823-E- Maill: san-ponciano@hotmail.com
The Basilica of San Ponciano is located in the city of La Plata, on calle 48 between 5 and Diagonal 80, province of Buenos Aires, Argentina.
It is the oldest temple in the city.
