The Petroglyphs

One of the most enigmatic inheritances of the first settlers of El Valle de Antón, to this day, were the ´´petroglyphs´´. Located in the community of La Pintada, where its name originates, it is located on a large rock that emerges from a hill. Local history and legends say that the Indians camped around the Painted Stone to celebrate religious rites and that it hides a treasure guarded by an Indian who is their guardian.

To the right of La Pintada Jet is located ´´La Piedra del Sapo´´, named for the toad-shaped frog or frog. There are other places in El Valle where we can find other glyphs, such as El Potosí.

The Golden Frogs:

The Valley, formed by leafy trees of great variety, espavé, corotúes, guabos, oaks, guayacanes, flours, macanos, laurels, nances, cedars. In the midst of this spectacular fauna, a frog of unique colors decorates this paradise, ´´The Golden Frog´´ (atelopus varius). This, capable of climbing walls and hanging from the ceiling, although it is more common to climb to the top of the trees.

The ancient pre-Columbian settlers had the belief that when they died they became gold.

The Golden Frogs have been immortalized by Mark Twain in his famous story The Golden Frogs.
