Frankby   North West England

This award-winning, privately owned country house offers luxury bed and breakfast accommodation in a peaceful, rural setting, just 15 minutes' drive from Liverpool.

Peel Hey is located in the picturesque conservation village of Frankby, in the heart of the Wirral. The guest house is just 5 minutes' drive from the Victorian seaside towns of Hoylake and West Kirby, where there are numerous restaurants and bars. Peel Hey House is also conveniently located for trips to Chester.

The house was originally constructed in 1885 and the luxurious and attractive en suite rooms feature free Wi-Fi, and they are individually styled, combining contemporary facilities with unique charm and character. The peaceful location and great accommodation makes this guesthouse a great place for a relaxing or romantic break.

The hotel has also won an Enjoy England Breakfast Award. Guests can enjoy the award-winning menu in the bright and airy eating area. There are numerous activities and local attractions on offer in the vicinity, with plenty to see and do. Set in charming Hamilton Square, the Wirral Museum is well worth a visit. The museum is housed in the former town hall, a Grade II-listed Victorian building.

Port Sunlight is a picturesque 19th century village that is rich in history and also offers magnificent gardens to admire. Worth a special mention is the Lady Lever Art Gallery, which can be found in the heart of the village. The Lady Lever Art Gallery was originally provided for the workers of the Sunlight Soap factory. Here you will find a remarkable collection of elegant furniture, fine porcelain, English 18th century and pre-Raphaelite paintings, sculptures and other riches.

The area is also known as the Leisure Peninsular and it boasts 14 golf courses, including the world-renowned Royal Liverpool Golf Club in Hoylake, which hosted the British Open Championship in 2006. Then, there is Caldy Golf Course with its breathtaking views of the River Dee and the Welsh hills, or Wallasey Golf Club, with its stunning views across the River Mersey. The Wallasey Golf Club is also famous among golfers as club member Dr Frank Stableford developed the Stableford system of points scoring here.

The guest house is also conveniently located within easy reach of the beach, making it a good base for those visiting the area to enjoy water sports, such as sailing and windsurfing. Sand yachting, fishing, walking and bird watching are also possible in the surrounding area. The guest house is just 15 minutes' drive from Liverpool, City of Culture 2008, and only 30 minutes from Chester; making it an ideal base for touring the Wirral, North Wales and the North West. With victory in 2007, the guest house has now won the Bed and Breakfast of the Year Award in the Merseyside Annual Tourism Awards for 3 years running. In addition, Peel Hey also boasts a 4-star Silver Award 2007 from the English Tourism Council and features in the Which Best Bed & Breakfast Guide and the Michelin Red Guide. The guest house also holds a Silver Award from the Green Tourism Business Council for its efforts to conserve energy and protect the environment.

Located in Frankby and set in the heart of the Wirral peninsular, Peel Hey has beautiful views across open countryside towards the coast. The house is within easy walking distance of the local pub and the village is a welcome retreat away from the busy towns. However, the convenient location means that both Liverpool and Chester are within easy reach and junctions 2 and 3 of the M53 are just minutes away.

Whether you are visiting the area on business, calling in on relatives, attending a wedding, golfing, sailing, walking, bird watching or just enjoying a well-earned break, you can be assured of a very warm welcome at Peel Hey, where the staff endeavour to offer the highest level of service and quality.

There is a guests’ lounge and the delightful south-facing dining room looks out over the garden, the paddocks and the fields beyond. The bedrooms offer far-reaching views stretching away across Liverpool Bay. On a clear day, you can even see Blackpool Tower. The addition of the Victorian conservatory in 2007 has greatly enhanced the house and the conservatory provides the perfect place to relax and unwind after a hard day’s work or a long day spent exploring the region.
