The central market of Santiago de Chile occupies an architectural work of cast iron. It was inaugurated in 1872, during the presidency of Federico Errázuriz Zañartu.
The iron structure was cast in Glasgow, Scotland. In 1868, construction was started by the Chilean architect Fermín Vivaceta. Manuel Aldunate designed the masonry structure project.
It is located on Ismael Valdés Vergara 900 Street in Santiago.
Today is a place recognized for its exquisite cuisine, where it is known for preserving Creole ancestral recipes, being part of the National Heritage. Historical Monument, visited by tourists, foreigners and nationals.
